Overview

In order to access the programming interface of a Nortel PBX, an authorized technician must log into the system. This is accomplished by executing the "LOGI" command.

Necessary Information

The following information is always required to access a Nortel PBX:

  • PBX Password

The following information may be necessary to access a Nortel PBX:

  • PBX Login ID
  • PBX Second Level Password
  • PBX Second Level Login ID
  • Secure Modem Credentials

Security

The PBX can be configured to "Lock out" the user attempting to gain access if the correct login credentials are not entered within a specified number of attempts. The length of time that access will no longer be allowed to the system can also be configured. The "OVL400" error message means that access to the system is locked out.

PBX Programming Examples

Example 1

Logging in:

If the user is not logged into the system, the PBX will respond with "OVL111". If the user is logged into the system, a carriage return will elicit the "OVL000" message as a response.

The user will type "LOGI" plus the Login ID if applicable. (i.e. "LOGI USERNAME")

Then the PBX responds with "PASS?"

The user will then enter a password
