Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Make sure you check and see how many Altigen dealers are in your area. I get calls all the time from people with Altigens who can't find any dealers. The IPK is pretty solid and there are a ton of dealers. I also wouldn't expect an Altigen to last 10+ years, but an IPK should last at least that long. Andy www.teleco4.com

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Where are you located? My first call would be to Altigen to see if there are any dealers in your area. The Altigen is a fairly new system, but after installing 6 of them from our office, it seems to be a very strong contender to the "Big Boys". We have not had any trouble out of the systems as yet. Had some network trouble with one site, but that was resolved by changing to a different brand of router.

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Altigen is based in Freemont. The system is very easy to program from a web browser interface. The only drawback I have seen from this end is that the quality of the speaker phone on the IP set is not as good as I am used to. However, if you are not going to use the IP set, then you can use any analog set you want. The analog ports will provide name and number caller ID, and will also provide loop supervision. I am first and foremost a Nortel person, and would chose Nortel over anything else on the market. That said, I would definately chose the Altigen over the smaller NEC switches.

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Basically, the Altigen is a PC. How many 10 year PC's do you have still working? You will have to change hardware out every 3 years or so especially HDs and Power Supplies. The IPK, and all traditional phone systems, are all hardware dependant, but that hardware should last a real long time. I have many system in the field for 15-20 years. Think of it like this. How often do you have to reboot your PC? Now how often do you have to reboot your key system. Why would you trust your business to a PC when for the same or less money you can get tried and true technology. Unless you have a real compelling reason for going PC based, stick with what you know will work for a long time. Andy http://www.teleco4.com
