Question about call forwarding Hello all, I hope you'll forgive me for barging in - I'm not a pro, just a guy with a question, and I figured if it involves VOIP this would be place to find answers! I have a relative in federal prison who has been thinking about using one of the voip services where they give a number near the prison which they can call to reach a friend or family member, but it is treated as a local call so it's much cheaper. However, one of the inmates there just got disciplined for using the service because they said he was using a "call forwarding device." Now I don't know much about telephone systems, but it seems like call forwarding is what I have on my phone, so I can send calls to whatever number I want. But with that VOIP thing, as I understand, there is no such capability. They always call the local number, and it always rings the same phone, so how is that call forwarding? Or maybe it isn't? Sure hope someone can give me the technical lowdown on this. Thanks! |
