Location: State of Kuwait Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Nortel's SCS500 and BCM450 A former co-worker has asked me about nortel's scs500 and bcm450. Since I'm no longer an employee of a distributor/reseller, I'm not updated about this things anymore. I'm not hearing this either in this forum. Anyone has their hands dirty on this things, please speak up.

Location: Panama Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Hello, I can help you with both. The SCS500 is a software based SIP PBX from Nortel launched about 5 months ago in NA and CALA. It can be installed in a Dell server or on an IBM System i. It is a SIP standard PBX (Believe it or not!). For connection to non SIP products, the SCS500 uses AudioCodes gateways (FXS, FXO, and T1/E1) and for sets Nortel lauched a line of LG-Nortel phones. 1140E and 1120E can also be used. There are curses and certification exams available for this product already. On the other hand the BCM450 is a new platform from the BCM family that is going to be lauched on Monday. It has greater capacity than the BCM400 and it has most of the new features that came with BCM50 3.0 (Conference Ports, improvements in ICC, etc.) Hopes this helps.
