I only use ip phones for remote sites, you can have sip trunks, ISDN or pots on most modern systems. don't for get the hidden costs of ip phones with POE switches or power supplies at each telephone. you can link systems with gateway cards making the other offices on the telephone network for internal calls (free) and transferring calls, but not depending on the link to do normal business | ||||||||

Location: New Hampshire Rep Power: 0 Gender: Country:  | You are better off going with a digital PBX and finding a local CLEC to provide dialtone through a T-1 or ISDN. Voip makes sense in two instances one being no existing cabling (although I would strongly recommend that voice cabling be installed as this will increase the resale value of your building), and the other is PBX connection on an existing (VOIP tested and ready WAN). It would take decades to realize the ROI for MAC's. Savings on Long distance are not all that great, and can usually be matched or bested by a CLEC. One of the biggest disadvantages of VOIP is the hidden costs associated with an inadequate network. I am a big fan of VOIP, but do not yet see it as a mainstream seller. When we are able to make calls regularly over the Public internet securely then and only then will this be really attractive. | ||||||||
