Polycom?

Has anyone had any expierience with the Polycom VIOP.
What do you think of the product?
does this run with SIP sets?
Is SIP the universal standard and is SIP a form of protocol that allows a VIOP phone like the Polycom to work on any VIOP system?

Just wondering!

I have used the Polycom Handsets (if thats what you're referring to here) and they work OK with SIP.

SIP is the new VoIP protocol and most of the phones nowadays are SIP compliant.

Adtran seems to be using the Polycom SIP phones on their VOIP solution. I have heard good things about them. Adtran has their Netvanta router and switches which I have first hand knowledge with. My compnay hasnt used the Polycom VOIP solution with them mostly because we carry three other VOIP products... VoilaIP is a new company around the Houston area and they swear by the Polycom product...

We have a SoundPoint IP 301 SIP Business VoIP Phone and it works OK.. It's not my favorite, and Polycom doesn't want to have anything to do with end customers, so don't expect to get any response from them when using their products. They tell you to call the place you purchased it from.
