Location: Minneapolis Rep Power: 4 ![]() | So help me out, is the Integration a VM replacement or will the Unity interconnect with a Nortel VM? Is there a CallManager involved as well or just the Nortel for PBX's? I'm not sure why you would need the PIMG unless you interconnect with another, non-IP based Vm solution. As for the re-build, you only need to re-build it if you don't plan for PIMG in the first place. I suppose they could have built it for IP only. But since it's in the box, why can't you start the install now? I'm still confused. If you could install it now and use it, then why do you need PIMG? __________________ Deus ex machina

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Sorry, been having too much fun Good to know, I am going to have 2 systems, Cisco Call Manager, and OPtion 61 Nortel PBX hooked up to the same box. If I can go ahead with the install, then thats what I will do, as long as they make sure it will accept the PIMG later, when it finally gets approved. One more, I forget, the Example Admin box is full, can I change the Exchange password without blowing up anything? We do not do intergrated Exchange, exchange is running on the Unity box for voice messages. I cheated with my extension, changed the exchange password to match the phone password, so I can use web page to display/play messages. I need to do the same with the eadmin account.

Location: Minneapolis Rep Power: 4 ![]() | So the Callmanager will not need PIMG to do anything with Unity since it's all IP The Nortel will need a way to get SMDI and calls to/from the Unity. The SMDI is easy since the CM does not use SMDI, just set up Unity's Com Port to the Nortel. You could also accomplish both with in-band signaling on a T-1 card in the Unity box (brooktrout or the like. Cisco has specific cards they like and support) But then we are back to the PIMG - If both systems are hooked to the Unity directly and the Nortel also has hooks to a 2nd vm server then why not have the Unity call the Nortel via its existing ports instead of separate PIMG? I'm also wondering why you will need the PIMG later and not right away. Are you piloting Unity for some reason? I would say you could solve this whole thing if you had a good IPT architect that planned for a 1yr out scenario....a lot of times a pilot is planned by the sales guys. FYI, if the Cisco SE is planning your pilot, then you are introuble. Make sure you get a certified Gold Partner to plan this (certified in IPT, not just a generic Cisco Gold partner...Route Switch and Security guys are not the best for planning IPT migration plans and the Cisco SE never has to "plan" anything...they solve immediate needs and sell sell sell) As for the EaAdmin stuff 1 change the default extension from 99999.... to something real 2 Chang the password but make sure you DO NOT change the Exchange Admin password, DO NOT change the Message Store User Password, DO NOT change the Svcs Admin pwd.....those are TOTALLY different account than EaAdmin (you will notice the garbage characters at the end of the EaAdmin account) and the EaUser accounts. __________________ Deus ex machina

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Thanks, We are using Calence, as a gold partner. We have 3 techs, one just got promoted, but the other 2 are good phone(certified IPT) background guys. Both too young though. I will look up the brooktrout, we have one somewhere, but it may be out of date(old). Our scenario is Option61, with OCTEL as primary voice mail(going away), Call Pilot as a voice prompt player for Symposium. Call pilot will stay until Symp goes away, OCTEL going away by the end of the year, Unity is replacing the Octel, and the Unity will also support Cisco IP sets.

Location: Minneapolis Rep Power: 4 ![]() | The CallPilot Symposium combo is outside of the regular vmail solution right? You must have T-1 PRI's going to that. The IPT guys may assume they need the PIMG just because that's what's on the tests. The biggest question is "Do the users of the Octel need to send Unity users vmails (directly or on company wide distribution lists)?" If the answer is "no" then you could treat the Octel users and the Unity Users like seperate companies and save the time and money of the PIMG solution. PIMG is just so the Unity and the Octel can exchange messages. But you can Install Unity expecting to put in PIMG. It's not as if the system won't run without the PIMG. The "total rebuild" seems like someone only read half the document. good luck, I dont have any bad experiences with Calence or any experiences at all for that matter, but we are not in the same space. They seem to do more domestic only companies while we focus on International types. __________________ Deus ex machina

Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Hummmm, No Octel is going away as soon as the Unity is in. We will be setting up this box to be the "main" Unity, we have 3 other Unity boxes that we will need to transfer messages between, hopefully using Digital networking of the Unity boxes. If you have any info on hooking up a Nortel to Unity (docs etc) let me know. That would save Us $8K plus install costs

Location: Minneapolis Rep Power: 4 ![]() | So is there no option for T1 ini-band QSIG between the Unity and the Nortel? Are the PIMG units going to be used for the audio trunks to the Unity from the Nortel? What this would do is limit the need for analog cards into the Unity itself since the PIMG units can talk to Unity with IP while the PIMG units talk to the Nortel with analog/digital lines. __________________ Deus ex machina
