CCM 4.1 and setting up a 'phantom' ext no that diverts to mobile

Ok, this one has been frustrating me for a while.

This should be simple ... but I cannot get it to work at all

I want to use translation patterns to allow special numbers which go to a person's mobile. i.e. if one dials *2345 it expands out to 907363254262 (made up UK mobile number) and the person's mobile is dialled.

So,I set up a translation pattern, *2345. and told the Cisco to discard 'PreDot' digits and prefix with 907363254262 ... This appears to work, in that the correct destination number then appears on the phone (so the translation pattern is working), but it completely fails to connect and I can't figure out why

I have tried several things:
- added the translation pattern to the MOBILE calling search space, which it matches once translated (failed)
- played about with classifying the call as 'OffNet' and 'OnNet' (neither worked)
- put the pattern in its own partition and added that to the calling search space (failed)

I have put Trace on on my handset but it tells me very little that I can understand, to be frank ... I have no idea what's going on

Apparently this should be 'simple'!!!

As an alternative how would I set up 'phantom' extensions that are permanently call forwarded to the mobiles? Perhaps I'm doing it all wrong...

edit to add: yes I'm doing it all wrong ... all I have to do is setup handsets on nonexistent MAC addresses ... Ahh ... I'm off into work later to try this

Fake MACs are a pain in the arse. Just use a CTI Route Point instead.

The trans patterns would work too if you bounced them through a Route pattern otherwise they have no way to get out. Did you expand the digits to match a real route pattern? Like 9. Something

you need to go to plugins on the pub and install DNA (Dialed Number Analyzer). This would have told you why it failed

The DNs in UCM 4.1 need to be attached to something. Either a phone or Route Point. Managing all the fake MACs (Hex format) without a system or spreadsheet becomes terrible but the CTI Route Point can be made using an Alpha Numeric name which makes it easier to find.

Then you would assign the DN and CFWD All to whatever number you want.

Now, if you want to use special characters (* or #) then it has to be a Trans Pattern or a Route Pattern. I would make it a Trans Pattern of *222 then manipulate the mask to match a real existing Route Pattern.

The kicker is that the Phone making the dialing must be able to see the Trans Pattern and the Route Pattern. But if you bounce it through a Route Point then the phone doesn't need the correct class of service to see the eventual pattern, just the Route Point does. This way a caller can short dial a long distance number even if they can't place LD calls from their phone.

As for the OnNet and OffNet that you mentioned, that is useless for call routing and is only used in CDR records.
