EKT6510-H Headphone recommendations?

Our Admin Assistant just asked me if we could put a headset on her EKT6510-H extension. Poor woman's neck could sure use a "break"!

The "Strata DK I&M" manual says only that...

"If a carbon-type handset or headset is connected to the handset jack on the side of the 6500-series electronic telephone, two straps inside the telephone must be cut."

...then goes on to describe how to do this. I have a few spare extensions so one can be modified as needed without negative impact on operations.

Can any of our Forum community recommend an *inexpensive* (preferably under $75) and easily-available headset we can directly sub for the normal handset? What specs are critical?

She and I would greatly appreciate any assistance on this one.

Cheers,
-Michael ##

Go for a plantronics headset - you can't really go wrong with these.

It's been years since I worked on Toshiba kit but I thought you needed a headset daughtercard (think it was a HHEU card) to be installed into the telephone and then the links cut for it to work.

Thanx for the Plantronics recommendation; will see what they have to offer. Seem to recall doing this sort of thing (i.e., direct sub of headset for handset w/o mods) on a Nortel system *many* years ago and it worked.

As for replacing her extension with a DKT-series (or even finding an HHEU) that's not likely at this point since our location's (thus, also present PBX's) days are numbered and *management* ain't likely to spend money for something that's on its way out. (My previous issue with wanting to reprogram certain aspects of this PBX...)

Use a plantronics M12 base and any plantronics style headset that is compatible with the base. Works great on EKT- you shouldn't need a HHEU- but it is much more user friendly with one.

Thanx, "Kize". "Badger" earlier recommended Plantronics and I was able to find an S11 set they claim will work with the EKT-6510H. Best local retail price was $80 at Office Depot. Gave all this info to my associate who will likely bring this to her (and my) boss's attention. (Maybe she'll surprise us both and spring for one?)

Anyway, I appreciate all the helpful comments; "youse guys" are great!

Cheers,
