Location: New York State Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Greetings from analogland! I found this site during a search for info sparked by a request from my G.M. The link to "wedophones" bagged much-needed manuals (THANX!) We have a DK40i system with several EKT6510-H and two EKT6520-SD extensions (no Attendant consoles or other accessories). Extensions are connected to logical ports 012 (x20) through 019 (x27); ports 020-027 are available but not currently used since our downsizing. Logical ports 000-007 come out to a punchblock but have never (to my knowledge) been used, although I found an RJ-11 jack (2-wire) onto port 007. (Whatever happened to 008-011?) Would like to change the ALS on one extension but cannot access setups. Tried a '6520 on several of the 012-019 ports without success. Tried it also with a (4-wire) RJ-11 onto port 000 but phone is dead. Inside DK40i base unit is a KSTU2A board whose jumper is disconnected from main board. Is there any way I can access the setups with a '6520? There's no PIOU or PIOUS (odd name for that one, eh?) nor do I have the software. What if anything would I gain by reconnecting that KSTU2A jumper? (Could that accidentally damage our system?) Any help would be appreciated; even a straight "Nope, you can't do that with what 'ya got." Cheers, -Michael ##

Location: Lakeland, Fl Rep Power: 2 ![]() | OK - A couple things.....The DK40i comes configured for 8 digital ports for digital phones (DKT2020) (ports 000-007). You have Electronic phones (EKT6520). Thats why it didn't work on port 000. Your phones will only work when connected to a PEKU Card in the expansion cabinet. Ports 008-011 come out on the same amp tail with 000-007. 008-011 are analog station ports supported by that KSTU card mounted in the base cabinet. Connect that ribbon cable and you will activate those ports. I have never tried to program a DK40 with electronic phones. Find a digital DKT2020-SD, connect it to port 000 and program with that. Forget about the programming software for this system, with a little practice you can do it faster thru the phone. Hope some of this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

Location: New York State Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanx, Voyager! We have PEKU-1A cards installed in an expansion unit, which serves those extensions 20-27 (-35). The base cabinet extensions, to my knowledge, have never been used nor have I ever seen a DKT-series phone anywhere on site. So, unless I can "dynamically reallocate" (i.e., borrow) one locally, I'm down for the count. No big deal; the desired ALS change isn't worth the expense but would've been nice to try this even for basically educational purposes. Appreciate the reply! Cheers! -Michael ##

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Ports 008 to 011? For the DK40, if there is no KSTU card, it will be used for the PEKU/PDKU in the expansion cabinet. But once you insert the KSTU card, those ports will jump 4 ports up, i.e. from ports 008-015 to 012-019 to make way for the SLT ports in the KSTU. (Ports 008-011)

Location: New York State Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Thanks. "Mr Engineer". Appreciate the info on those ports, but it's extremely unlikely we'll ever do anything with them. As it is, there are only 5 of us here anymore and hardly anyone calls in or out. (This location may survive until year's end, then operations go to NYC-area. At that time, the DK40i will undoubtedly again become surplus and I'll try to scarf it up for whatever purpose...) The whole thread started with my desire to make one program change to one extension, which piqued my technical curiosity. I consider none of this a waste of time or effort, and in the process discovered a generous, helpful bunch of folks on this forum. Cheers! -Michael Shovan, CBTE (SBE Certified Broadcast Television Engineer) ##
