Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Good afternoon, We recently had our Toshiba vendor add a second SMDI license to our CTX670 system so that we could have SMDI integration (via serial) to an IP-Media Gateway (PIMG80LS) for Exchange 2007 UM integration. Our first SMDI license is used via Ethernet as a connection to the voicemail system we utilize (StragagyES I believe). However, it appears that any time a change is made to the SMDI/serial configuration on the second SMDI port, it causes our SMDI integration with the first SMDI port to fail, thus causing a disconnect between our phone system and our voicemail system. Our Toshiba vendor has indicated to us this is the fault of the second SMDI port... that you can't have a second SMDI port. This seems ludacris to me. For one, why did they sell us the license then? They also suggested that perhaps it is due to our first SMDI being used as an ethernet bridge and the second SMDI being used as a serial... that the incompatibility might be there. This also seems silly. Should we not be able to have two SMDI ports configured separatly and operating independently? Is it possible that perhaps when we make a change to one, a reboot of the phone switch is necessary for everything (both SMDI ports) to come back in sync with their respective counterparts and that is really the issue? If so, once we got the second SMDI configured properly, reboot the phone switch once, everything should be happy, correct? Thanks for any help you can provide! ![]()

Location: TX Rep Power: 3 ![]() | That sounds very strange to me as well. It seems that you should be able to have two SMDI ports on one system. My question is why do need two SMDI for Unified Messaging straight to the exchange server. Are you not using the UM client software from Toshiba?

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | No, we are not using the Toshiba UM software. We recently upgraded to Exchange 2007 and due to another licensing need, the UM functionality with Exchange 07 was included along with that so it was sort of a freebie (in a way). So in leiu of paying for Toshiba UM licensing, we would like to utilize the integration Exchange 2007 provides since we already have licensing for it for all of our 200+ users and it has tight integration with Outlook Web Access as well.

Location: TX Rep Power: 3 ![]() | Let me know how the integration between the exchange and the voicmail works when you get it working. I would like to see about this for a client if you have luck with it. maybe a good and viable solution in the future.
