Simple DK280 - move station from electronic to digital

Hi,

I have had this utopian task on my mind for some time but I just cant figure an easy way to do it:

I want to replace an electronic station with digital. Look at it as moving an electronic station to digital. I know the automatic move will NOT work in this scenario as it only works on like stations. So then what is left for me?

I am slowly killing all electronic cards but I dont have a way to gradually take users from electronic ports and move them to digital, of course preserving their extention, etc I have all the manuals but I cant find what I am looking for in terms of procedure?

Ideas will be most appreciated
Thanks so much
Boyan

If I am not mistaken you can create a "dummy" card location then move the extensions to that in programming. once you are done with the electronic card change out to digital, assign the extensions back to the replacement card. Correct me if I am wrong but all the programming for the phone is kept with the extension so if you move it in programming all of the programming moves with it.
I know this to be true with the CTX670. I am not sure with the DK280 though. Toshiba is usually pretty good about keeping things pretty much the same on all new releases of systems. I hope this helps.

You will have to use Program 04 and use card type 64.

Reboot the system and then you should be good to go..

Hi,

Yes I can use prog 04 to assign INT to port but what is peculiar is WHY?

When I conenct a phone to said circuit the test INT #401 and #402 shows extention 0 but the PHY and LOG are both valid. The phone can dial INT and CO - it just has INT 0? I though upon booting the CPU will automatically enumerate all cards and all ports and assign some extention automatically?

You cant make a "dummy card" in the DK280. Are you going to do just 1 phone or all 8 at on time? If all 8 unplug all 8 EKT phones (you would be suprised how many forget this step) remove the PEKU. Use program 03 to change card type 62 for PDKU. Install new card and plug in new phones. Button programming should be no change.

Thanks SS

No, I cant do them all at the same time. I have to do them one by one. So I have several digital cards installed a long time ago with avaialble circuits. Assuming they have been recognized because when I plug a phone, it works just fine, with all buttons programmed as the rest, EXCEPT the PDN is 000? PHY and LOG match and the values are as expected based on the slot of the said card. I can use program 04 to change that and then it's all good but I a puzzled? I tested all 8 circuits in all available cards and PDN is always 000?

What gives? I thought that the system will assign default PDNs based on the PHY and LOG, say LOG=080 then PDN will be 281

Thanks
~B

Also how do I *unprogram* the electronic port first? I can use prog 04 to assign INT to the new digital port but it would NOT work unless that INT is vacant. And it would not be vacant since it is still assigned to the old electronic port.

So I guess I need to unporgram it first, BEFORE using prog 04 for the new digital port, am I correct?

Thanks
~B

Hey Guys,

The PDN is 0, you mean to say, in Program 39, the flexible INTERCOM button is displayed as "#000"? If this is the case, it is normal for a Strata424.

You can assign the extension number under Program 04 but if there is a clash with the numbers in the Electrocic ports or vice versa, you can delete the number by pressing the INT button (until the digits disappear). The "erased" entension still exists but you cannot call to it. Now, you can use that number for the Digital port.

Normally for me, I would assess the number of Electronics ports I want to move and then try to put them all into one PEKU. Then, I would just change that slot into a Digital slot, change the EKTs to DKT and voila. All done.
