Please help a Nortel Newbie...

I have a Telrad 400 system with the old IVM system. It really sucks. We basically can't use the AA because it doesn't always recognize the tones a caller presses, and therefore the caller can't navigate the calling tree.

Would it be worth it to upgrade to the Emagin voice mail system, or considering this systems age, look at something entirely new?

Thanks.

IVM doesn't always work

What ver. is the System and Imagen, your problem is pretty rare.

It is not the Imagen voice mail system it is the older Interactive Voice Mail (IVM) system, version 4.00D.

The Telrad switch is a Telrad 400 Digital Key-BX, version PCP DB3.04A.

I've been told the system is at least 10 years old, possibly older. I am not sure if the problem is with the IVM system itself or if the DTMF receivers in the switch are going bad, but the Auto Attendent won't recognize touch tones reliably.

swap

I would upgrade the 400 to release 7 and upgrade to a to a Imagen or Emagen, even used they are far better then the IVM you are using.

How reliable would you say these are and what other systems do they compare too?

Well I have a bunch out there, from the older Analog 816-2464's to many digital 128's, 400's and 1000's. Very dependable and built solid and can grow very large and they also network together great. As a matter of fact I stop selling Avaya and Nortel and went to Telrad for the larger needs and only sell Avaya partner for small needs.
Out of all the Telrad's, I have had only a handful of phones that needed replacement. And the new IP equipment is way ahead of it's time.

Their voice mail systems are equally as dependable and durable.

Seems like when any of my clients want to put a new system in somewhere they don't want to look at anything else but Telrad, so I think that says allot.
