Problem making calls to external automated phone systems...

Just noticed a really annoying problem with our phones:

If I dial an automated system somewhere else - eg Microsoft's product activation system, whenever I type a '5' it isn't registered - all other numbers work!!! However, I can call phone numbers with a '5' in them.... Tried about 6 phones now.

Just tried to call HP's support line and I need to select option 5 but I can't

Anyone know why or how to fix please!

Many thanks.

Sounds like a system reset is in order. May have a DTMF or a highway locked up. Try a shut down and reset.

Thanks, that sorted it!

Really should have thought of that myself - it's the standard rsponse when anyone calls me with an IT issue - 'restart it, that should fix it'!

Is it possible to schedule a restart? - most of the time the phone system is busy so peple get a little annoyed if it suddenly restarts - being able to do it automatically in the middle of the night would be very useful - it's an IS-400.

Cheers

If you had a IPeX you could setup a software change over, but no way to set a scheduled reset on the MPD stuff. Guess you could use a RAU and reset that way but it would be you doing it at what ever time you accessed the system.
