I need to have a t installed in about 1 month in baltimore, maryland. who can recommend a good vendor or clec...or should i just choose verizon...

This job was thrown into my hands....I read that AT&T is the best for data services...or does verizon do this stuff...

I will probably supply an Adtran 500 series dsu/csu as I have to break out all 24 channels into pots lines to be used for voice & data lines.....or does the vendor supply this stuff. Please email me with any help..........THANX..

Mitchthephoneman,
I work with comapies like this on a daily basis. I order and assist in troubleshooting all of our data circuits and POTS lines nationwide, and I work with every carrier known to man. If I were in your shoes, I would go ahead and use the incumbant LEC (Verizon there I think). CLEC's will get you cheaper service in some cases, but after all you are still working with the LEC's technicians and service people for outages. The same goes for AT&T. They could probably provide the service, but when the poo hits the fan you are not only fighting with AT&T to get someone on it, but then you have to wait for them to contact the LEC to see where the problem is. My advise... Cut out the middle man.. That's just me.

Thanks,

clwfoneman

Mitch,
I have never heard of a company who can put in a t1 within one month of a request. . but maybe i just haven't had any good experiences. Mitch, you should probably provide the csu/dsu and try to get it configured before the T1 service starts (except for the IP stuff, of course).

I too, would cut out the middle man. Go right to Verizon.

When I worked in Naples, FL , Verizon Quoted me 14 days to install a new T1, they had it working in 12 days and it worked right the first time. Than again they have taken more than a month and sometimes it took more than a week to get it to work. I guess it just depends if there busy and if you get a good team installing it just like anything else.

William

thankx fur da help.......my customer is looking at a t1. My fellow computer network geek wants to use most of them for his network......and a few for calling out on the phone system. I have no intentions of dealing with CLECs as I found out that when they place service calls, Verizon puts the service call at the bottom of the list!!!

VERIZON DOES NOT LIKE CLEC'S..........

Does the PBX have T1 connectivity possibilities? If so, why use a adtran tsu120 and drop out the data channels to a v35 and pass on the rest of the dso's on a ds1 into the PBX?

While I agree on your take on Verizon's view of CLEC's, most CLEC's have better pricing. Att is reputable, but I have had problems with their spans inthe past, especially when connecting them to Meridian Ones. WCOm is not sitting real good right now. So, Sprint and QWEST would be the best alternatives. I am not sure what kind of pricing they can give you, but it is worth a shot. I would watch for the legnth of term commitment, LD rates, and Toll Free rates if applicable.

Hoep it helps,
Mike
