Here's a snip from an old letter from Nortel -- February 28, 2002 As General Manager of the Nortel Networks* Local Premise Solutions team, I am writing to update you on our plans for the Norstar* portfolio during 2002. I’m pleased to be able to tell you that our installed base now exceeds 1 million systems and 13 million lines, and that Norstar continues to be the market-leading digital key system for small and medium businesses and branch locations. | I have been around a long time and on a True key system each phone has a key to access each outside line.Their is also a Intercom key that they can call each other on. So a person would answer a line put it on hold and dial another person on their Intercom key and they would then answer the line. In a pbx the users have extensions and they dial a code usually 9 to access outside lines We have some key systems that came out on the market several years ago that are called Hybrid key systems which means they can be programed either as a pbx or a key system. | ||||||||

| Chas, You been spending too much time on the Nortel site... you have forgotten the lore of our original site!! What's the principle difference between PBX, PABX and KTS? I think we nailed it pretty well in that thread! SD | ||||||||
