With advent of Gigabit ethernet, most people didn't think they would be able to use that much bandwidth...now there is a need for 10 Gigabit networks? I really don't see our personal computers being able to compute or convert data fast enough to send data with that much through put. If you know someone who is running a gigabit network step up I would be curious to see how much of the network they are using trying to send a 10Gig file from one computer to another. Anytime I have tried transferring large amounts of data, I watch in "Task Manager" under network to see how much of the pipe I am using, even with a large gigabit file the line rarely goes over 50% utilization. Why do you think that is? So are our 100Mbps networks becoming obsolete? Quote:

So it does seem that Gigabit does increase throughput and your computer can take advantage of it to a certain point. Thanks for the link, I may have to check out the Dlink gigabit router. __________________ -=Welcome to PBXInfo=- -Become a PBXInfo Supporter -Get more PM Space, Profile Picture, a Signature -Add yourself to Pbxinfo's Frappr -Find Nortel Software | ||||||||
