Hello

We are a software company and need a call center product for support and for sales. We currently use Inter-Tel but will be dumping the system at the end of the year mainly because of cost and the difficulty in programming the system. I have been evaluating companies and I like to know what you think about Avaya, Vodavi and Altigen. We need ACD, voicemail, good reporting, Auto attendant, Hold/transfer, music on hold, etc. We have a dedicated T1 with DID for our lines. Does anyone know which company provides the better product? Who has the best features, etc.?

Thanks.

Hi,

I guess every brand has its strength and weaknesses. From my experience, Avaya is quite well cater for call-centre environment in my region but you need to consider the price. To my opinion, the price is much more steep as compare to other brands. You may look into it by accessing the website www.avaya.com

OmniPCX Office DDI numbers limitation?

Yeah. I like the Avaya but some of the feautres I want they don't currently have although they should be coming out with those shortly. The Altigen got thrown my way out of the blue but after looking at their information, they have some good features as does Vodavi although I think Vodavai has more than the other 2. I just want to get peoples opinion.

Thanks

I dont know what size call center you have but from the other systems listed I would suggest you look at Nortel's BCM (business communications manager). It programs via web browser, supports almost everything in one box, and has a great ACD package built in.You can go here for more info http://www.nortelnetworks.com/produc.../cc/index.html . I used to work on Vodovi alot and consider them to be pretty crappy but that was over 5 years ago so I'm not up on the newer stuff.

I just chedked out that link. One thing I done understand is under BCM it says no for VOIP which is not true. BCM does VOIP sets, trunks, and wireless as well as TDM.

Re: RE:

I also just checked out that link and am also confused about about a few things. If you were new to PBX's and were looking for a fair comparison then I would not use that list.
I understand that it is on the Nortel Portal but if you are going to put the stats of say an Option 81C then I think you need to put in some other larger enterprise systems.

Alcatel OmniPCX office - Pure IP? What about an Alcatel OmniPCX 4400

or How About a HICOM 350H (10,000 config. ports, I have 4 T2's connected to mine) or HiPath 4000 series.

I know a list like that must be hard to keep up to date but the HICOM and Alcatel 4400 have been around for a while and are quite popular in other countries.

I believe the biggest Alcatel installation is in Las Vegas school district? With about 200-300 nodes with 28,000 users.

or How about Ericsson's MD110 another Enterprise PBX.

Great - Feedback..

Dixie - I'll change the BCM row (that's an error) and it's true that I'm a Nortel Guy, but I did try to keep everything unbiased and took info directly from all the PDF's and websites I could find....

Dtu - Great - I'll research and add...

Any other systems I'm missing?

Thanks,
Chas2002

RE:

I looked at the link and even printed it out to look over this past weekend. But if I read between the lines here do I assume that the Altigen is not a favorite since nobody has really mentioned it? I am not familiar with Nortel's system but by browsing this site I see a lot of posts from Nortel reps and I'd like to see more user feedback.

Our call center isn't that big but it can grow to 6, 7 perhaps 10 people over time. We are very busy however, which is why we use a dedicated T1 for our lines, both sales and support. We currently have 4 reps and we use an ACD, etc. which helps us out a lot and gives a good impression.

avaya and Nortel go head to head all the time in this area. I am surprised nobody has mentioned Nortel Symposium Call Center Server and Nortel Express Call Center Server. Express is the small biz version.

Most large call center outsourcers use both extensively to match their customer's environments.
