Jeff -

There are a bunch of systems. I saw one for about $2500 not including the sets...It's server based and I think the name is Teladvantage. Check that - just did a search and its...TeleVantage

Quote:
Artisoft TeleVantage is a feature-rich, software-based business phone system (PBX) that combines the power of your desktop computer with the most advanced communications technology available today. Built on an open-systems architecture and supported by world-class Intel® hardware, TeleVantage delivers greater functionality, flexibility, and value than a proprietary PBX.

No matter what the type or size of your business, TeleVantage is the phone system for you. Whether you own a small business, manage a call center, want to unite multiple remote office locations using IP-PBX or run a large enterprise organization, TeleVantage will make an impact by enhancing customer service, increasing productivity and improving the bottom line for your business

I'm a nortel and symposium guy myself and can't attest to the reliability of the above system - but it looks great for the $$$$.

I need the phones and the agents in minimum number.
Say a call center that is functional with minimum
in everything like hardware cost , agents cost ,etc.

Chas2002

$2500 is too costly. For a beginner like us, Can you suggest a quote
that is low cost and functional .

Do I need any additional hardware if I purchase a pbx?
Does PBX also acts as a voip gateway for the nortel, avaya and hipath pbx? Do I need any additional hardware to make IP calls using tapi if I purchase any of these?

Do I need special phone on the agent workstations
OR
Will it work without these phones just with a head set , mic and a computer.?

If required, any suggestions for these phones?

Anyone interested in helping out with the new Avaya Portal?

As far as I know for a "True" Callcenter setup - that's the cheapest you'll find. $2,500.00...

If you don't need a "true" call center (Recorded Announcments, Agent logon's, Historical Data, IVR, etc.) then you may be able to go with a Centrex setup from you local Central Office.

Centrex = a group of lines that hunt, call forward no answer, call forward busy to other extension's in the group (not a true automatice call distrubtion). Still each line will usually cost about $40.00 a month to lease and if you have 4 lines - you're better off going with a system..
