i have setup hyperterminal on a windows 2003 server. Ive connected my phone system to the server via com port 1. all inward calls are now listed on the hyperterminal page my questions are these:

1, how can i capture the text/calls and automatically write them to an access DB?
2, is it possible to capture outward bounds calls as well?

Yes you need access to the CDR port on the pbx. You can captuer that information to some kind of buffer, then export it to a database or spreadsheet
