| International calling I work as a researcher for a Japanese company. We are looking to resell 0-GATEWAY, a japanese VoIP adapter and IP telephones into the U.S. and have some questions regarding PBX's in the U.S. Please forgive me for not knowing the correct terminology. I have gathered the following information this past week. Confirmation would be greatly appreciated. 1) Generally dialing "9" is required to gain access to an outside telephone line. I was told this number can be configured to any number, even "#" or even "*". 2) VoIP adapters of all kinds are connected to the PBX's ISDN/T-1 port versus the analog port. New questions: 3) Are there any PBX systems(enterprise or SOHO) that are not able to connect to a VoIP adapter? 4) What input ports are standard for U.S. PBX systems? 5) Can IP telephones in the U.S. call normal telephones? 6) In Japan SIP and H.323 are the common protocols used. Which is more common in the U.S. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
