Exclamation Wow thats me....

Im 26 been in the field of IT for around 3 solid years. I started at my current job as a PC tech, basic hardware, software and server stuff, got promotted due to people being fired to network tech and still doing the pc stuff at the same time. Now in the past year they fired our director and I ended up with PBX support, Network support, server support and all the other low level stuff from time to time. So my title is network admin and im still a tech but i get to pick out what I want to buy to install. I basically taught my self how to program sets (MAC's) on a Option 11 with the help of our Verizon maintenace contract techs. One day im setting up an IPsec tunnel, router, vlan and a firewalll the next day im setting routes in between our PBX's (CS-1000) to allow our new Call XPress voicemail server to work throughout our network. SO basically im doing it all and im not great at anything because I dont do one thing but efficient enough to get it done. All this and im making 40k a year barely able to survive in the resort location im at due to $1k rent.

Honestly i like the exposure i like PBX's and like networks (servers and PC's bore me) but i still do it. I think im underpaid. What do you guys think? by the way we have 5 IT staff and everyone is either scared of the PBX or thinks its "Dead technology" and we have 200 ip sets (not dead imo)

I would ask for a raise. I am paid nearly double your rate, but I have been doing this for 37 years.

If you can get some certificates (Microsoft, Cisco, etc.) that will help.

Certificates will get your foot in the door. If you do not have any and are competing with a guy with a CCNA, the hiring manager will favor the other guy. He will assume the other guy knows more, rightly or wrongly. Plus he will be able to ask for more of a wage.
