XMRadio versus Sirius

There is no longer a radio station here that plays the kind of music I like so I am looking at either XMRadio or Sirius satellite radio as a replacement. They both cost the same and XMRadio has more channels. They both have the channels I would listen to.

Anybody out there use either one of these? What is your opinion?

One of the guys in our Nortel user group has teh Sirius one and loves it. Does some buffering so when you loose the signal you can play pre-recorded stuff. Looks cool to.

Thing I don't know about is the monthly $$ That I would wonder if it was worth it. Maybe if always driving in areas where there is no local radio.

They both have a monthly fee which can be paid 1 month at a time or 1 year, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years at a time. The more you pay, the cheaper it is. The nearest radio station that plays music I like is 130 miles away and tends to fade out at times, depending on where I am.

I burned some CDs to play in the truck but I have listened to them so much that I need some more variety.

A year ago I would not have considered it, but I miss having music to listen to when I drive about. Since I paid off my house earlier this year I have the money now.

I have XM and rarely do I switch to FM. I chose XM due to unit size and portabilty. If I am trowing a few back while mowing my lawn, I listen to my XM live pretty sweet. If you have directv they recently changed their music channels to the XM format, a cool way to check out what they offer. Plus if you go on XM's site, you can preview it on the web and listen to XM at work on your pc.

Stern's arch rival's Opie and Anthony are on XM. Stern lost his edge about ten years ago, these guys seemed to pick up where he left off. I listened to Stern before his jump to Sirius, and since that was my only "funny" morning show option he was ok. I'm much happier with sat radio especially since I have the desk cradle for work as well.

I will probably not be able to listen at work. My office is in the middle of a two story building on the first floor in a server room. I know there is Internet feed but that would use up bandwidth on the corporate LAN which will probably earn me a visit from the bandwidth police.
