In a recent post :
http://nortel.pbxinfo.com/index.php?...ewtopic&t=5698

I created a quick macro for Tera Term Pro (direct connect to the switch) that changed a CLS for 300+ TNs.

What other Mass Changes are a common request or need (any ideas)?
  • FDN Changes?
    CLS Changes?
    NCOS Changes, etc.
I'm thinking of making a collection of Mass Change Macros as a resource with all the instructions to boot. What I like about Tera Terms' macro language is that it's succinct, can pull info from external files (TN.txt) with ease and doesn't require compiling.

Thanks,
Chas2002

Mass Changes?

Chas,
We recently had to do TGAR/TARG settings for over 1200 TNs so that our buffalo campus and houghton campus would use the correct trunk for making 911 calls. We found that using a dedicated trunk on the Mini-Carrier-Remote and protecting it with TARG was the best and easiest method, however, we did end up change all the TNs by hand.

Does ProComm has the ability to read from a file like Terra Term? I thought I researched this last time and ended up doing it the hard way.

Thanks HC..

Yes ProComm can do the same with aspect scripting..but compared to Tera Term it's a bit more involved. ProComm is a better product due the the Dial-In capabilities, but other than that - the two programs are similar and Tera Term is 100% free.

I can write a Tera Term macro in a matter of minutes - but with ProComm I'd have to write then compile. Then those who download it might have to compile it as well.

I recently used a script (similar to the one in the other post) to change TGAR settings for 180 TN's. [-They were listening to the music route all day. So I blocked them from that route. -]

I'll add TGAR to the list...

Thanks,
Chas2002

Mass changes I've done recently were CLID entry and EPE to IPE TN moves. Both times I've used Aspect with DDE to Excel.
