Location: Legana Tasmania Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Possibly a tricky one. We use remote connection on Hicom 118 systems using a PCI fritz ISDN card. We have built an additional PC for access but use an Eicon DIva USB ISDN modem in lieu of the fritz card. Does anyone have any idea how to get the Siemens Assistant L software to recognise the eicon ISDN modem. We have no problem with the older machina and fritz modem and the Eicon Diva works fine on the new machine with Assistant E (for hipath 3000) and also on the Alcatel OXO.

Rep Power: 2 ![]() | Just got this off a Siemens page: Problem Unable to connect to a Hicom 100 E system using Assistant L via ISDN. The option ISDN under Connection is greyed-out in the Transfer object. HiPath 3000 Manager E can be used to connect via ISDN using the same ISDN controller (ISDN "Modem"). Cause Assistant L only supports the CAPI 1.1 (Common ISDN API) standard. CAPI 1.1 was originally designed for the German ISDN network (1TR6). Because of this only ISDN controllers manufactured in Germany supported the CAPI 1.1 standard. By the time the UK market started using ISDN the CAPI 2.0 standard was out so most British ISDN controllers only adopted this standard. HiPath 3000 Manager E only supports the CAPI 2.0 standard. Most modern PCI and PCMCIA ISDN cards only support the CAPI 2.0 standard. Solution The original German AVM and Teles cards supported CAPI 1.1 and also CAPI 2.0 so they would work with Assistant L and HiPath 3000 Manager E. If you can obtain one of these cards this is the ideal solution. You may have to check whether the current Windows XP driver still supports the dual CAPI mode as even Germany have now switched to CAPI 2.0. If this is the case the manufacturer may have an old Windows 95 or Windows 98 driver that supports the dual CAPI mode, if this is the case you will obviously need a Windows 95 or Windows 98 PC for use with Assistant L or a dual boot PC. Rep Power: 0 ![]() | It is possible to connect ISDN with AVM card Hello, We are using the assistant lean software (tool for Hicom 112/118 ) via an AVM PCMCIA/PCi card due to an additional driver that we use. If you want to have it, plse send an PM and we exchange email addresses.

Location: Legana Tasmania Rep Power: 0 ![]() | AVM are the manufacturer of the Fritz modem so we would already have those drivers. The problem is that the Eicon Diva USB modem doesn't support the version of capi nexcessary (see dan's note above) for the 118 so I don't think we'll find a resolution, there simply aren't any capi 1.1 drivers for the Diva modem. It's not really that much of an issue as we have one working system with the fritz, it would have been nice to be able to access remote programming from a couple of PC's at busy times.
