Question Partner II training info

Hello All...just started at a company that has a legacy Lucent Partner II r4.1 system. As part of my duties, I am required to update and configure both the communication and the voice messaging system. Unfortunately I have no experience with this PBX. I have looked over the manuals but without knowing how it is currently configured, I dare not make changes without knowing how to reverse them. My last experience was with a Nortel switch that had a TTY interfce for configuring and printing out settings. Any insight to finding training would be great. Thanks in advance.

MF,

If your switch has a remote access card, you can print out some information by connecting to the switch using the Partner remote access software.

If you do not have a card or the software, you will have quite a task. Try looking around where the switch is and maybe you can find some documentation about the set up.

I hope this helps.

Its all pretty simple--just get a manual and read it. Partners are very simple--they always start with sta 10. How many users do you have and what type of phone sets are you using?

Thank you for your replys

2wire and Crooter...

I appreciate both of you responding to my post. My biggest issue is not knowing how the systems are currently configured. When they were installed 10 years ago, configuration documentation was never created. We have 20 outside lines assigned to various extensions at the main office. Some I believe are in hunt groups while others are direct private lines. Then at our three galleries we have different release levels of the Partner II (rel 4.1-5), also with 10+ line assignments. I have manuals for all the releases and will use them to make future changes. Is there anyway to see the present configuration on paper?

To the best of my knowledge---the only way to know what you have in your situation is to start your own inventory. I would ANI all the lines at each of the four locations. I would then go through the stations in central programming to see how each phone is set up for the incoming lines--whether there are pool groups or individual stations with numbers assigned to certain stations. I made a template in Excel that I use for programming stations and what features and attributes I assign to each. I am sure you could use it or make your own to record. I would then listen to the voicemail and write down verbage and follow each menu to its pointed stations or groups.
It wont be easy but I guaruntee within a short time you will know that system inside and out. I assume you already know how to get into programming. I can send you a good cheat sheet of the most commonly used commands if you want. just email me.

Regards
