Have you put a meter on the line to see if central office is sending stray ring voltage?
if the led is not lit after a call is terminated then its not a call holding issue.Unless you have enabled a callback ?

Its not a "ring" meter its a "digital volt meter" . Even a Butt set across the line in monitor mode will tell you if you have stray ringing voltage present or not ! if you are going to play like you are the telephone man you need basic diagnostic tools and a knowledge of the how to use said tools and the equipment you are working on . As far a automatic callback busy (camp on) it is done from a display phone and it is a on shot deal for further reference look on page 108 of the feature guide of the KX-TD 816/1232 if its even a TD model that you are referring too since you have not been clear in you posts what system you are working on.

lift handset and type 790 on both the phone being rang and the extension calling that will stop it if it is a ringback
