KX-TD1232 voicemail integration problem.

Hi:
I am helping a friend that has a KX_td1232 that I have no prior experience on. He did a system reset and wiped it out. All settings gone.. Anyway, all I have is a user manual / programming manual. It seems straightforward but I'm stuck -- when I dial intercom 165 it gets the voicemail system but if I dial from the outside or even inside to an extension it just rings. VM never picks up.

I'm used to avaya PBX's where you set the "cover path" [- that is, how many rings until it gets to the VM endpoint. Is there something similar in the panasonic? I have to be missing something somewhere.

thanks

you have to fwd the phone to vm. dial 7105171 this will put busy no answer to the voice mail at each extension

You have to have direct dial numbers for an external call to go to voicemail from a extension. a general call ringing using the dil1:n table will not go to voicemail

Hi: thank you -- I tried that - I used 165 though so 7105165. Phone display shows it should go to VM (FWD(B/NA) Ext165) but it still will just ring and ring.
Do I have to set up VM hunt group? And is there anywhere in the panasonic to set how many rings until it goes to VM ?
thanks again i really appreciate the help. I'm stuck..

you have to point the outside lines to the v/mail system using dil 1-1 if using psdn lines or if using isdn lines using DDI

also keep in mind that voicemail will only go to mailbox if there is only one phone ringing

ie: if you have internal phones set using Dil 1-N and when an outside caller rings in 3 handsets in the office are ringing ( in this case caller will not go to voicemail)
in fact even if you have all handsets in the office set as no ring except the reception phone (in this case caller will not go to voice mail )all other phones would have to be set disable.
so if you are trying to get an outside caller ringing on more than 1 phone to ring onto v/mail you would need a group setup with members and a group mailbox.
if you have auto attendent setup then use DIL 1-1 or DDI to the voicemail extension.

I think this is where I'm missing something (group setup). Is it the vm jacks/extensions that go into a group and also the stations? or just the stations?

and I've dug around and found mention of "Panasonic Digital Super Hybrid System. Operation and Maintenance tool ver2.27",. How do I get this? Will it make things easier for me?

thank you!!

if you want to have a couple of phones in the office to ring and if unanswered go to mailbox then you need to setup a ringroup on the phone system and a mailbox on the v/mail system
on the phone system add the members of the group then intercept the group to 165 if unanswered.
if you could get the software it would be great but you need the version for your phone system.

Rivet, if you intercept to 165 (voicemail) on a td, won't it hit the unit as a AA and not a group vm?.

what if you dil1:1 the lines to ext (say 101) and fwd that ext to a group,(it can include the extension 101 in it), then intercept the group to 165, the call should end up in mailbox 101.

One thing though, the USA units dont have groups like the UK version

Thanks rivet and OBT -

OBT: what do you mean about dil1:1 ? I am a total newbie with this panasonic. Avaya definity I know but this one just kicks me. Also you mentioned the US units dont have groups? I remember seeing groups that I could try to add - it asks by jack?
It went something like jack 01-1, then if I went to next it was jack 01-2
I have no idea what that was..

Is the "programmator" any good for what I'm trying to do? I cant find the panasonic software anywhere and the owner of this system definitely doesnt have it.

thanks again to you both - helping out tonnes!!
