KX-TD1232 Paging with Viking PA-2A

I am having problems with the paging on a Panasonic KX-TD1232 using a Viking PA-2A amplifier. The paging volume is way too low even turned up to max. The loud ringer with the PA-2A works perfectly; nice and loud. I ran the phone lines directly into the amplifier. On the paging side, I used an RCA cable from the KX-TD1232 Ext. Paging Port 1 and then stripped the other end to connect to the PA-2A in the paging ports. When paging the volume is 80% lower than the loud ringer.

Anybody have any ideas as to what may be causing the loss of volume with the paging side of the PA-2A? Did I wire it correctly from KX-TD1232 to the amp? I have swapped the RCA cable and there were no changes in volume.

Thank you in advance for the help

the volume out of the paging port is not that loud and you would have to ballance the output volumes(ringer and paging) you could try using a spare co port, the output volume may be higher or put a pre amp between the system and the amp

Thank you for the response OBT.

I like the idea of the pre-amp. Do you have a recommendation on a cheap small pre-amp?

I am not sure where you would get one, and it may be cheaper to put in a small amp, or you could try a audio transfomer.

I can pick an audio transformer for a couple bucks. I will check into cheap small amp or preamp to plug in between the KX-TD and the PA-2A.

But, I think I will connect my butt set to the paging ports on the PA-2A and test the volume of the paging. Like you suggested using the CO Ports.

I have installed several of these KX-TD1232s in the past have not had any problems with paging. Although the amps were higher end than this one.

there isn't normally a problem, but I found that amps with telephone paging port inputs are not great, and I have to use one of the Mic inputs to get a good volume level from them
