KX-TDA200 Paging Question

I have a user who wants to be able to page others, even if the others are currently on the phone (for example, to announce a building evacuation). Is there a way to do this? I'm not aware of it, and the manual indicates no:

• Extensions which cannot be paged are:
– Portable stations (PSs)
– Single line telephones (SLTs)
– Ringing or busy PTs
– PTs in Paging Deny mode
– PTs in Paging DND mode

Anyone know a solution?

Easy - Install an external paging system.

Check out the products offered by Valcom, who I believe are based in the US.

I've installed Valcom kit on TDA and it works well.

Thanks for the reply. Valcom system is already in place and connects to ceiling speakers in hallways and lobbies. Their concern is people who may not hear the page if their office door is closed and they are on the phone. They do not want to add ceiling speakers to every office. They are looking for a way to get existing paging to work through their phones, even if they already are on the phone. I know some other brands of PBX can do this. Just trying to figure out if the Panasonic can.

Panasonic definately can't. If you're busy then you won't receive a page call.

There isn't a solution to be honest, other than use external paging and I can understand why they dont want to expand the existing installation.

I've not really thought this through, but this may work:

Put all phones in a hunt group. Name the group something like "Emergency" or "Evac". Enable call waiting on all extns and dial the group number from a control location. This could warn extns of the evacuation.

Not sure if this will work - you could easily try it

Or....

Purchase an analogue extn card. Connect some strobes or sounders to the extns and deploy them in the locations you need. Add these into the above group so they flash / sound in the event of an evac / emergency as well.....
