a triplite usb to serial works great with xp we actually did a 200 install on the vineyard and used 3 of them and tied them end to end with a null modem adapter and gender changer and were able to run tel electronics
call acounting off the PMS server panasonic in on com one tel out on com 2 and back in on com 3 . BTW I have 2 identical usb generic usb to serial converters right here that work with hyperterminal with xp
in front of me that work with hyperterminal no big

"we only had an old panasonic disc lying around from a few years back. it did have a windows gui based TD1232 program, but that refused to work with the TD816 systems (there's a few of them around here)."

worked on anything -3 and above here excluding the 308 or 500
500 has its own gui that works 0n -1 through -4

my ignorance is showing through here - what's the -3, -1 and -4 mean? something to do with panasonic models?

g'day there are 5 versions of the td 500 out there - nothing through -4
and at least 8 versions of th 336 out there and 7 versions of the kx-td no worries mate you learn something new every day
