TA824 with TVA50 system, TVA50 hangs

Hi,

TA824 specs:
All 3 extension cards are in.
All caller ID cards are in.

TVA50
Just has the Factory installed jacks.

When a person calls from an outside line, the TA824 transfers the call to the TVA50 and the voice mail picks up the outside line with a custom service greeting. After awhile, the voice mail starts acting up and it doesn't pickup the outside line. When a person calls an extension internally and the other person picks up, it work fine. But when the called extension tries to go to the voice mail, it doesn't work. It says that the voice mail is busy even if there are no incoming calls. The TVA50 starts working after we reset it. The TVA50 box has not gone bad because the same problem occurs when we put in a newer TVA50 box.

We just recently moved and in the old building TA824 just had 2 extension cards and 1 caller ID card.

Could anyone help me out? TWACOMM can't help me out.

- Ash

Not sure if this will work but I'm aware of a similar problem in the UK.

I would suggest that the TVM50 (the UK equivalent to your product) isn't clearing it's ports down quick enough - hence they are remaining busy. On some analogue systems I've known them to take a couple of minutes to clear down.

Couple of things to try:-

1) In the utility menu of the TVM50 Maintenace console, you should be able to see live the status of the VM ports. View this screen, make some test calls and watch what happens - do the ports remain busy?

2) The other thing to try is to change the way the TVM transfers calls to the PBX. In default the TVM carries out a supervised transfer - i.e it waits for the called party to answer before dropping the call through. Change this to be an unsupervised transfer as follows:-

System parameters --> Parameters --> PBX Parameters --> PBX Environment

Change the three transfer sequences from FX to FXD. Apply your changes and make some more test calls, again viewing the status of the ports as you make the calls.

In the UK this greatly improves the problem above - it never quite fixes it 100% but it's normally sufficient for the customer not to notice the issue.

Good Luck!

Hi Badger,

For the couple of things to try:

1. The status of the VM ports were showing "incoming calls" even though there were no incoming calls. So, I cleared the ports by closing and opening them. But, the ports remained busy when I did a test call.

2. I have changed the three transfer sequences to FXD and will check back on the system.

Thanks

Alright, The TVA50 went down today.

Is there a way to make the TVA50 clear it's ports faster?

On the TA824, I extended the transfer time to the voice mail.

I found the solution for the problem.
There seems to be dirty power at the new building. Therefore, we installed a UPS for the TVA 50.

It seems to working fine now.
