Rep Power: 0 ![]() | KX-TEA308 TRS/COS not working I have a KX-TEA308 which appears in all other respects to be working perfectly, except for operation of TRS/COS. I have assigned "Denied Codes", and there are no "Exception Codes". The "Denied Codes" use wild cards (though I've tested with complete numbers), for example 0xxxxxxxxxx which ought to bar all calls except local ones. The COS has been assigned to extensions, yet those extensions can still call any number. Any ideas what may be wrong?

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | "Should" being the operative word here! I have read the book, and all of the help files which comes with the Maintenance Console software! I have set everything up as described in the manual, and still it doesn't work - that's why I'm asking for the support of someone who has experience of these PBX units, and might know why it's not behaving as expected! I'm sure you'll agree that electronic equipment does not always behave as expected (either because it's faulty or because there is an undocumented "feature" (aka a bug!)), and that's why forums such as this are so valueable!

Location: Dublin Rep Power: 3 ![]() | the best way to have a working cos if your not sure how to setup is to put every this applies to into a lower cos than you have setup. ie if you have setup cos 2 than put everyone into cos 3 however i would guess its the way you have it setup as in 15 years i havnt seen or heard of a bug in the cos in any of the panasonic systems (not even 1 ) peter www.vpi.ie

Location: York Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Ok then, where to start! Firstly, use the PC programming tool to check your programming. You will see a lot more information at the same time and you'll spot any mistakes easier. Secondly, set up the following as a test:- Programming Step 302 - put your mobile number in here. Programming Step 306 - Make sure nothing is in here Programming Step 309 - Just have 999 and 112 in here Programming Steps 601, 602 and 603 - set to COS 2 for your phone(s) Programming Step 300 - Make sure there is nothing in this step You should now not be able to dial your mobile number. If it works, just change the numbers you want to restrict. If it does not workm factory reset your system - i.e remove all programming and just program the above. This will show if there is anything elsewhere in your programming causing a conflict or your database may be corrupted (unlikely) Please post an update. Regards Badger

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Badger - thanks for the detailed advice. The programming steps you describe are exactly what I have done, both using a phone, and the PC software. I think I'll try a full reset as you suggest and take it from there - I'll let you know the result. Thanks again.

Location: York Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Just been thinking... (scary thought!) I've thought of a couple of things that you should double check:- 1) You've set the phone to COS 2 in all modes or could you have only set it in day mode but the system is in a different mode? 2) When storing the numbers to restrict, you do not need the '9' line access code. Just input numbers such as 01, 02, 09, etc. Also don't input any *'s as wildcard characters as you would on older Panasonic systems - the TEA308 does not really use wildcards - the * would be the same as if you actually were dialling a number with a * in it (same goes for #). 3) Assuming you are using COS 2, the numbers you are barring must be stored in entries 1 to 20 in programming step 302. 4) Make sure the number you are testing is not in the system speed dial directory as, in default, system speed-dials override call barring. 5) Try setting the phones to COS 5 but don't change any other programming. 6) Check that you have a UK system - look at the unit itself. The model number should finish with an E - e.g KX-TEA308E. 7) Check the firmware verison. I think this is step 998. The latest firmware is 2.0.2 and if you need this latest firmware, just post a message on here and I'll send it to you (its only 400Kb zipped). That's about all I can think of! I support many different systems but have never spent much time on the 308 so I may be overlooking something obvious! Good Luck.

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Problem Solved! Badger - the reset did the trick! I stored the configuration on my PC before reseting, and compared afterwards when I got it working. The problem was nothing to do with the COS or denied codes - I really should have spotted this when I was checking through things!!! Host PBX Access Code [403] had a '9' programmed for all CO's. Just as a matter of interest, when you program from the Maintenance Console, the wildcards are added automatically when you click on "Apply" or "OK". Also, after defaulting the system, speed-dials do not over-ride call barring - maybe this has been a change in default behaviour? Thanks again to rivet, phull_iqbal and Badger for offering helpful advice.
