Mailbox Question (TVS50)

I have a client who has a KA-TX824 system using a TVS50 Voice Processing System. They would like to utilize mailboxes that are NOT attached to an extension or phone.

I created the mailboxes through HyperTerminal, and they were able to record greetings and such. However, when you try to send a caller to the voicemail directly (using the Voicemail Transfer Button), it shows as an invalid box.

My question is, does each mailbox have to correspond to a phone extension, and thus a phone?

They use all 24 extensions currently, but the VPS shows that it has room for 32 Mailboxes (30 after Administration uses 2). Basically, they just want to use the extra 6 mailboxes for Agents who work off-site and just call in to check messages.

Thanks ahead of time for your help.

no problem creating virtual mailboxes just have to transfer calls to
them another way . tell person to hold the line hit transfer button key in 165-#6 XXX=mailbox number then hang up quick. outside party hears the no answer greeting that has been recorded in that box.

Transfer to 165? Even though on the TVS50 system voicemail is on port 115?

Also, I tried using both of those with 115 and it just takes me to the normal Voicemail prompt. If you've found a way to make this work, I'd love just a bit more clarification.

And thanks a ton for responding!

what I'm saying is

first of all as soon as you flag an extension for a voicemail port
the 2 ports become ext 165 and 166 buy default .
what I was saying is a call comes in for some one who has a
virtual mailbox (he does not have a phone on the system)
you say to the party please hold i'll transfer you so you hit transfer button
key in 165 wait for the voicemail to answer then hit #6 plus the persons
box number like for example 199 and then hang up quickly
you may want to have the people that have virtual mailboxes
record 2 seconds of silence befor recording there no answer
greeting so that there greeting does not get choped off.

if you are not using your XDP jacks
the other way of making the voicemail transfer seamless is to
use these exts/mailboxes as the owners of the virtual mailboxes
and just plug in a standard phone and forward all call to voicemail intercom 7102165
then all you have to do when a call comes in is say please
hold hit the VTR button and key a 3 digit number and hang up or if you just blind transfer it will wind up in there box as well!!
