I have no idea what this is about, I saw a poll and a fork option, selected it and moved on.

Nah, I just wanted to know how much we all are making. From the results, it seems that there are pretty slim pickings in telecom these days.

Probably lots of positions but you take what they want to offer you.

Today's Dilbert on the daily calendar:

Walley: "Our CEO got a $400,000,000 bonus this year. Can I get that too?"

Pointy Haired Boss: "Wally, He got that much because He's a million times more important than you."

Walley: "Fair enough. Can I have the $400 that you say I'm worth?"

Pretty slim turn out on this forum, and of course the usual folks who have to vote FORK on any poll, can you make it multiple choice so us special folks can increase the accuracy of your poll?

For me it depends on how much overtime I want to work, not difficult to clear 100k if I never want to have a life.

So in Canada is it more acceptable to discuss wages with other employees that it is in the US?

Not sure if I can change it once it has been set.

No, it is still socially rude to do this but as you well know I am not all that hung up on social conventions and I was curious so I asked; besides I made the poll anonymous. If any one is offended then I will send them a box of tissues and a pair of quarters to phone someone who cares. I didn't force anyone to participate in this poll or even to read it.

Working for the government, everyone knows your payband and can take a good guess which level you are in it. It is not discussed but if anyone wanted to know, it would not take much to find out.

On the private industry side, it was very guarded. Only a few of us discussed things as we had known each other for years but the management definitly gave the impression it was not to be talked about so you knew there were people being favoured somewhere.
