SAN ANTONIO -- A man who survived a crash five years ago that claimed the lives of three family members died in a fiery rollover on New Year's Eve.

Anthony Castillo, 23, died after he lost control of his pickup truck on Interstate 10 near Vance Jackson Road, police said.


A passenger was transported to Wilford Hall Medical Center in an undetermined condition.

Castillo's fiancee, Ashley Muñoz, said that she received the news about the crash from a friend who called her in the middle of the night.


"It's hard," Munoz said in an interview Tuesday with KSAT 12 News. "But everyone says, 'You know, his family wanted him.'"


Muñoz said that she and Castillo had planned to get married in 2008.


"He was just a good kid," said Peggy Muñoz, Ashley's mother. "It's a great loss."


Castillo was 17 when he, his mother, father and brother were returning from a vacation to the Gulf Coast. The vehicle rolled, killing three of them.

Castillo suffered only scratches and bruises.
