I have read an interesting article posted on
Sciencedirect.com (with a link to the Current-Biology)
The article is long, here's a very short summary:
Scientists have found that monkeys will pay juice rewards to see images of female perinea or faces of high-ranking monkeys. However, the monkeys had to be "paid" more juice to view lower-ranking monkeys.
There is also said, that Quote:
Quote:
| "male primates should be willing to pay for information about powerful males or sexually receptive females because these individuals most strongly influence their own behavior and eventual reproductive success. In contrast, they should be less willing to pay for information about low-status individuals because they are less influential. |
"
and
Quote:
Quote:
| "low-status monkeys averted gaze from high-status monkeys, whereas high-status monkeys tended to look directly at low-status monkeys" |
I find that the last paragraph is related not to monkeys only, some human guys like to look directly to each other when drink too much and want to improve their status
