I've many a mate who've called me already to let me know their condition/situation, and luckily thus far the worst was one who's a bit shaken up as he'd JUST missed his train, only to find had he been on it, he wouldn't have been phoning me.  To the US News media...for the gods sake, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP trying to find siginficance in the date (7/7) and the bombings..it has no bearing...and STOP COMPARING IT TO NYC in 2000 already.....a tradgedy is a tradgedy, and needs no comparison to any other....we don't need to compare the mindless killings in NYC, London, Madrid to any other mindless killings in say, Iraq, Iran, Africa....let them stand for themselves and give the dead and injured the respect they deserve with out being held up to others! rant over. __________________ Two wrongs don't make a Right, but THREE Lefts do!  | ||||||||

As to the date, it is significant... it is the start of the G8 conference. No other reason than that one. They obviously wanted to disrupt the G8 Summit or send a 'message' to the G8 countries. Beyond that there is no significance. If they wanted to send a message to the US then the bombings would have been in 4 days on 7-11 thus implying an affront to the sacred American institute of junk food and slushies!!!!   SD | |||||||||

Location: Small Town USA Rep Power: 13 Gender: Country: | Yes, the G8 was there, SD, but I purposfully ommited that....my local stations were trying to say that the 7/7 date had the same signifigance (faux) that 9/11 did...beliving, mistakenly, that 777 was UK emergency, rather than 999.  your right about the 7/11 date, however...and seeing as the stereotypical 7/11 worker/ower is of MidleEastern decent...well, that would just push it that much further into the American mindset.
