Saw a story about a friendly whale. A bunch of people rowing in a boat and the whale came up to it like it wanted to jump in with them. That would have made a great news story. “Killer whale leaps into boat and eats all inside.” I’m board. Anyway, what’s going on?

Location: 3498.51 miles from Tiverton, Ontario (CANADA) Rep Power: 16 ![]() | Black bear shot dead after wandering into Virginia hospital Associated Press June 17, 2004 ADVERTISEMENT ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (AP) -- An adult black bear was shot and killed after it wandered into a Virginia hospital, authorities said. The 136-kilogram male bear was first spotted walking along a street Tuesday night, authorities said. When the bear wandered in front of the nearby Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, it activated a sensor that opens the hospital's doors. The bear walked into a computer room and two police officers shut the door behind the animal, said Lieut. Karl Martin of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Officers planned to sedate the bear but they were worried what might happen if it got loose in the hospital. So an officer shot and killed it. No one was injured. The computer room sustained minor damage, Martin said.

Maybe it was going to try and hack into the hospital database. We had a similar story with a mountain lion that wondered into a town and in wanted to take a nap under a pickup truck. They had a tranquilizer gun but no tranquilizer. Smart! So they get down on a level with this lion and start shooting. Took about 5 tries but they got it. They also shot the truck a few times. This thing was 7 foot from head to tail. What do think would happen if the first shot missed and the 7 foot 300 pound lion came after the guy shooting from the ground? HELLO! Learn to shoot.

I just think they really didn’t want to kill the thing and afraid if the missed of what could happen. My question was “what is the point of having a tranquilizer gun but no tranquilizer?”

On the flip side if it was a government run Animal Control that didn't have tranquilizers for the gun that would perfect sense... cost cutting. And whats the big deal about killing mountain lions these days? Around here they come down into civilization and Animal Control doesn't do anything about it other than tell the citizens to stay inside... WTF? At a minimum tranq the thing and toss it way way way back where it came from.

They were saying why did they have to kill it? Why couldn’t they “tranq” the thing and move it somewhere else? Well my thought is if you tranq it to move it, where are you going to put it? Push it off to another town and have the same thing happen again. And I can just hear the same people say why didn’t you kill it in the first place after this hungry lion, this 7 foot 300 pound lion, eats one of there kids. Gross as it sounds but that is what this thing walked into town to do is find some food.

Location: 3498.51 miles from Tiverton, Ontario (CANADA) Rep Power: 16 ![]() | Normally I'm all about shooting things dead but in the cases of our mountain lion problems they're coming out for food and water because the areas that they normally live in have been burned in all of the fires we've had out here. I think that tranqing the thing and relocating into a an unburned area would be fair... if it comes back into civilization shoot it dead. We have them around here but they haven't come down from the mountains yet, I can only assume from the lessening coyote population over the years that they've been keeping the balance of things. However if one comes into my yard I know exactly what's gonna happen to it.
