In 2003, the presents mentioned in "The 12 Days of Christmas" add up to nearly $17,000 -- more than $2,000 more than they would have cost in 2002.

Your "true love" would have to spend only $77 for a partridge in a pear tree, but then come the turtle doves, the French hens, and all that.

The most expensive gifts of the 12 days of Christmas gift-giving are:

Nine ladies dancing -- $4,200
Seven swans swimming - $3,500
Five golden rings -- $361, $20 cheaper than last year

The total cost of all the gifts is actually $16,885.28.

AND!
BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. -- Broward County School officials have arranged for a visit from Santa after a teacher told students he was not for real.

School officials said that the teacher at A.C. Perry Elementary was discussing childhood favorites like the tooth fairy with her students, and when she was asked about Santa Claus, she told them he doesn't exist.

The teacher has since received counseling on being more sensitive to students.

Broward officials made an emergency phone call and have arranged for Santa to visit classrooms Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. to help relieve the students' concerns.

I think they (who ever THEY are) base the costs on goin rates for similar professions....So it may be a dance troupe's cost....

I mean really, how do you price Lords a Leaping? who even KNOWS where to find that?
