My fastest is 182 in the 2005 Corvette. I just traded it on a 2007 Z06 Corvette on June 29th. As soon as it is broken in I will see if I can get past 200. There are some long straight stretches here in Nevada that you can see about 25 or more miles. I NEVER endanger ANYONE except myself when I do these test runs, that's why I go to the one road I can see for at least 25 miles and straight as an arrow. No side roads for people to enter from. I am getting a little old for this foolishness but it is fun. By the way, the Z06 comes with Z rated tires.

My girlfriends brother has a 07 Z06 that he uses mostly for 'track day' racing; the last time we went for a visit he took for a few 140mph runs along some of the back roads of NorCal... phenomenal vehicle.

I think TopGear ran one of those upto 190+ before they ran out of road... they also described the Z06 experience as something similar to herpes... a lot of fun getting but can be a bear to live with everyday.

Hopefully the rumors I've been hearing about the Z07 come true.

What rumors are those? I've had this car for almost a month now and all I can say is WOW! Very fast and not a bad daily driver. A little stiff ride but it's supposed to be.

TopGear ran the one they commented on at Willow Springs and then drove it around on the SoCal highways so the ride was a little rougher than normal due to our crap highways.

MotorTrend had a blurb last month about a possible 09 Z07 Vette with a blown version of the current motor making something in the area of 700hp; the CTS-V is rumored to be jumping to ~600 also with a supercharger supposedly to put it back up in competition with the M5. According the GFs brother who keeps track of such things they are far fetched rumors.

Same guy has some sort of electronic dohicky setup that holds the straight through exhaust butterflies open full time, they can be closed by pressing one of the garage door control buttons... probably not a huge performance gain but sounds mean at idle.

The 09 Z06 will be some where between 650 and 700 horses. That is a fact verified by the CEO of GM. It will be considerably more money though. The prices I have heard batted around are between $110k and $140k. The Butterfly switch is OK but I just pulled my fuse and leave them open all the time. It is not that loud except on the freeway in 6th gear at around 1800 RPM. The drone at that RPM is a little annoying. I will be spending some money on a new exhaust as soon as I save my pennies. Put a SERIOUS hurt on the savings account just to buy this Vette. It's been just over a month now and I still am floored by the response in this beast. It will break the tires loose at 55 or 60 no problem. I am still feeling it out as to it's limits and there doesn't seem to be many. As for the ride, well it is a little stiff compared to the average grocery getter but this thing is supposed to be stiff in order to keep it planted when it needs to be planted. If you don't like the ride buy a Huyandi. The Ferraris I have driven are just as stiff if not stiffer.
