Toddler 'abducted' during holiday

A search is being carried out for a three-year-old from Britain who may have been abducted while on holiday with her family in Portugal.

Madeleine McCann's parents, from Leicestershire, were at a restaurant near the Mark Warner Ocean Summer Club in Praia da Luz when she went missing.
Kate and Gerry McCann returned at about 2145 GMT to find an empty bed and the apartment door and window wide open.
The apartment has been cordoned off and local people are helping with a search.

'Devoted family'
Gill Renwick, a friend of the family, said Madeleine's parents - both doctors - had been having a meal in a tapas restaurant a few hundred yards from the apartment and had been checking on the little girl and her younger sibling twins every half hour.
"They're a devoted family and love their children to bits. They live for their children."
Madeleine was reported missing at about 2200 BST on Thursday and tourists joined the police in an all-night search.
Her aunt Trish Cameron, who lives in Glasgow, said she felt certain her niece had been abducted. "They last checked at half past nine and they were all sound asleep, sleeping, windows shut, shutters shut.

What sort of parents are they? I know it states they were only 200 yards away in a restaurant but away from your kids is away from your kids. They left a 3 year old and two younger children (twins) alone in the apartment. If one of them had started choking would they have known nothing about it until they checked in next time! I sympathise with these people for the situation they are now in but that doesn't excuse them for leaving 3 children alone in an apartment.

I agree that was at a minimum a VERY poor choice.

Seeing as they are both Dr's I'm fairly certain that they could have afforded a proper sitter/nanny to watch the tots while they had dinner.

STUPID!!!!

Devils Advocate here:
Did they both check on the kids at the same time? Did mom go, then dad, then mom......?
Maybe this is no accident? Maybe this was planed...what a great alibi. People see you going to check on your kids, your in a public place.

Me thinks there more to the story and yes time will tell...
