Question Anyone use Wiki?

Anyone use them or regularly contribute to them?

PBXInfo WIKI

wiki (IPA: [ˈwɪ.kiː] <WICK-ee> or [ˈwiː.kiː] <WEE-kee>[1]) is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, typically without the need for registration. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative authoring.

I am thinking of making one where we can all put information about different systems.
ie.
Pbx Programming Guides
..Nortel
....Meridian
.....-Building ACD Queues
.....-Creating new Phones
.....-Updating Firmware in M3900 series phones

Upgrading Procedures
BCM--
....BCM 3.0 to 4.0
.....Step 1....Download Patchs...
.....Step 2....Etc....

All these could be articles we collectively contribute too..

I am trying to think the best use of it, as the forums take a lot of posting and searching to get what you need, ideally a Wiki would be static information that could be easily accessed and edited by all.

It could really be an outstanding source of easily accessible information if it is set up properly.

It is pretty neat you do a search and if you don't find the information you can create it on the fly.
I know most of you are pretty busy and barely have time for just the forums but I am thinking a wiki would be a neat new toy that may be very useful for us.

Do you guys have ideas/suggestions/comments for something like this?

I am still trying to figure out how to use it...

Wiki's are awesome. I pretty much live on wikipedia for all my information I need, rather then google now days, and the wonderful thing is, if you disagree with something, you change it

I would be willing to support a pbxinfo wiki!

You have to beware of info on Wiki, but it is very useful and a pbx section would be great.

I use Wikipedia to gather information but have never tried posting the information, they did have an issue last year where because anyone could enter information and change current information some of the information on the site was being changed either as abuse or just for the fun of it, they got around it by forcing people to register though.

How to Create Content in Wiki's

We would like 2 - 3 volunteers to head up the PBX Wiki Project, you can add it to your resume if you like . You will have to get well versed in the user guide to see how to create content and sections...

Your jobs would be to help create this resource into an easy to use and navigable resource.

I think there is enough info on the boards to post a ton of solutions on the wiki; from creating tty ports to programming anything in the switch. If it was all documented how easy would it be to get things done.

Do I have any Volunteers who would help support/manage our PBX WIKI Project?

We have it installed, now we have to create the categories and content

Is it only for PBX's or should we include other applications? Voicemail, Call Accounting, Unified Messaging, Call Center Stuff?

Would love your input.

Also I went back and deleted off topic posts. Would like to TRY to keep it on topic as much as possible.
