So i'm sure you know better than anyone else who are just a customer. And yes, knowledghe are meant to be shared among the vendors, but that's not always the case for everyone. For example your secret recipe for your restaurant, don't tell me that you reveal your ancient recipe just openly and that's goin to kill your own business. Will someone be that stupid do such things ? Well what you said that was the old selfish me, but thing will never stay like this forever coz the world has changed so much. The business nature nowadays is more or symbiotic relationships and customer relationship based. If things were to jump the other way round or inversely then of course it won't be a proper cycle of economic and tradings will slowly die off. And then there's no need for distributor But then if everyone does that, then who's going to do business and and everyone must as well be a consumer instead of being a reseller. That's precisely a distributor and reseller for. Well i'm not so sure about things in your places. But what i know is that customers are getting picky and talk about end figures. And notice that things are getting cheaper and cheaper and profit margin is getting lower and lower. And there will be a point where many people can't operate even a small business, and supporting the resellers doesn't hurt, you are also helping them to sustain their growth and also to serve you better and also create job oppotunities. And of course, you can always do the maintenance on your own, as i said before this has to be done at your own risk and if mistake done, the company who sold you the stuff will not held responsibility over your system. And as an engineer, i don't expect ourselves to uphold such cost for the system failure and that's costy i'm sure. That's the reason why maintenance contracts are usually provided by resellers to help you out and also in case your system down you can ask for an on loan sets.Isn't that beautiful ? Anyway i love this community as i also see many experts around here and i also learn a lot and by helping out others, i'm also recapping the knowledge i have acquired. Sometimes experiences hurts us but as time goes by we learn to encounter them and learn how to conceal the special skills that we get. That's all i can say. If the things i said was too sensitive, please comment that out. But my thoughts will eventually reaches you when one day you become a boss of your own company. You will start to realise more elements of the business nature.

I think it's something to do with not wanting James Bond's super secret agents business being leaked thru the medium of a forum. Something like that anyway. Maybe it's M or Q in disguise trying to keep Mr Bond's actions under wrap.

It may be a new computer program designed to replace the old ones we see every day but have learned to recognize. I would say it still has a few "bugs" to work out. __________________ . . . (Where the hell is Icy anyway?) As to the "Vendor's will be angry at this sight!" BS.... This sight has been around in one form or another for many many years (I can think of at least 8years that I've been around with it) so if there is a PBX vendor out there that HASN'T see this yet, they've not been doing their homework. If I've posted anything that's already been said many times over, sorry, I only really skimmed the posts. issue in my eyes. __________________ You can't wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you - Look, if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Location: San Diego, CA Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I reread this thread from the beginning and I get the impression that dennooze is of the opinion that only the vendor should do any administration or maintenance for any of the systems mentioned on this site. Sorry, but hogwash!! All the vendors know that the customers want to save money by doing stuff themselves or hire cheaper third party companies to do it for them. If they make a mistake or try something beyond their experience level and blow up the system, they'll have to go to the vendor for help at that point and it will cost a lot of money. Many customers hire people that used to work for vendors to do work in house, that's where I came from. No one is going to hire someone who has never seen a PBX and set him up to be the administrator. In my opinion dennooze needs to get a better grasp on reality. I know the vendor I came from did not want to be bothered with thousands of calls every day rearranging pickups on a phone and then have the customer call back and complain because Avaya did not mail out new labels for the phone. The customer was trained in basic admin and maint, and the system was turned over to them to deal with. __________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup. Actually, I have a feeling he/she got this impression pounded into them by the vendor and/or sales person for the equipment. That, or spent a lot of money on an unnessasary vendor contract and someone called him/her out on it. __________________ You can't wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you - Look, if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!
