Cool Steve Irwin

Does anyone know exactly when his show started? I think it was in the later '90s

The Crocodile Hunter arose because of an emergency. Shortly after Steve Irwin and Terri Raines were married in 1992, Steve got a call that he was needed to help trap a crocodile in the Outback. So Steve, Terri, and his associates went out and moved the honeymoon to the resultant safari. Among the misadventures filmed during the trip was Terri finding a venomous King brown snake while trying to find a place to go to the bathroom, and Steve running to her rescue to toss the snake clear. The footage from the safari was eventually compiled and turned into a pilot for a new kind of nature show.

Animal Planet
Our entire company is deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. Steve was beloved by millions of fans and animal lovers around the world and was one of our planet's most passionate conservationists. He has graced our air since October 1996 and was essential in building Animal Planet into a global brand.

You know there are a lot of spoofs out there on Steve but he was good at what he did. He did say he would probably die in open water because he was so out of his element....
I enjoyed watching him.
