Remember I posted a clip about this story?

A little while back I posted a story about "Nanny Cams", well it looks like the nanny may get her just rewards

Nanny Sues Hidden-Camera Manufacturer

Wednesday, June 14, 2006

(06-14) 09:50 PDT Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (AP) --

A nanny who was arrested after police viewed hidden camera video recordings that appeared to show her shaking a 5-month-old baby is suing the recording system's manufacturer.

Claudia Muro, 32, alleges that distorted camera footage wrongfully led to her arrest and imprisonment. She was arrested in October 2003 and spent two years awaiting trial before prosecutors dropped the case because of concerns about the tape.

The footage was broadcast on television around the country.

The lawsuit was filed against Boca Raton-based Tyco Fire & Security, according to a report in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

Broward County prosecutors in March said experts they had consulted concluded the footage was not reliable as evidence because its videotape was time-lapsed, meaning that the movements that appeared to be rough shaking might not have been as violent as they appeared.

Robert McKee, Muro's civil attorney, told the Sun-Sentinel that the footage was misleading and caused his client to spend a long time in jail. He said there should be a warning to the consumer about the images.

Messages left by The Associated Press early Wednesday for McKee and Allison Gilman, Muro's criminal defense attorney, were not immediately returned.

Nor was a message left for the communications department of Tyco. A company official had told the Sun-Sentinel it does not discuss pending litigation.

You know I have seen bank surveillance pictures and they are even hard to look at. Why can't these pictures be of better quality? There never really clear for some reason.

The newer version have the capability to produce MUCH better images. There is a trade off between REAL clear video and the storage space it takes for the images. For example, one of my home systems has an 80 gig and a 250 gig HD. This system records all the time. On this sytems I am clicking away at 15 frames a sec. That gives me almost two weeks record time before it starts over-writing the data. !5 frams a sec is slow enough to miss some things but OK for others. Example; somebody throws a beer bottle out their window as they drive by. 15 frames a sec is too slow to catch the bottle except for just a few frames. If I bump it up to 30 frames a sec, the video is clearer but the amount of time I can record before overwrite happens is cut in half.

The second system is a simple 80 gig HD. But the record rate is 30 frames a sec but only records when it senses motion. This system will run weeks and still have free space left.

Times-are-a-changing and most new units going into service are the ones that use a HD. As technology improves, HD cost will go down and I will upgrade the first system I spoke of with twin 500 gig HDs. Not to increase the amount of time, but to keep at least 2 weeks of recording but at a much higher frame rate. This way I can have even a better view of the "beer bottle".

As time goes by, banks and anybody that uses video surveylance will upgrade to the newer and cheaper versions and the images you see will be better.

I'm curious as to what you need all of that for... the only reason I can think of to have that type of system would be to grab a few shots of the neighborhood MILFs running around - all of my valueable stuff is way too heavy for anyone to move without an a-frame truck.

Well, guns are not heavy and knowing who took them is a "plus" in my book. No, I don't keep them in a 20000 lb safe. What good are they in a locked safe ?? and probably another safe to store the ammo in??? I keep mine evenly spread around the house, all loaded. If you decide you want to visit, please don't bring kids..they are not allowed inside!

Besides, the two systems are small, and use very little electricity. Knowing who was at your front door, what they were doing and such is rather nice info. Example: Sis borrowed an item from me. When she brought it back, she "hid" it so it would not be obvious to passers by since I was not home at that time. I was able to play back the video from about the time I thought she would be there and find out where the item was hidden. Since i also seem to do a lot of purchasing that requires UPS, FEDX and such to deliver... having the system lets me know if someone took something that was delivered when I wasn't home. BUT, since everybody in the area knows I have the systems running, I have no trouble out of any of the neighbors anymore.

The "beer bottle" incident went on for over 2 years as his way of p!ssing me off ( and it worked, thats why I got the systems). After it cost him $1104 USD, 2 year probation, 2 months in jail if he breaks probation, a trip to the psycho doc to see if he needs help and if the psycho doc thinks he does need help, he has to pay for the help out of HIS pocket, the neighborhood has rid itself of the local bully. And this is a result of MY video stuff.

Besides, if you were to break into my garage, you and I have some similar stuff that CAN be "removed" without an "A" frame truck. ( welders, power tools, hand tools, etc..)

I'm shocked that he doesn't have (or hasn't told us) about the remote firing stations he has setup with the cameras... shoot bad guys without leaving the comfort of bed.

OK, have to ask.... who lied to you and said Paradise III wasn't being watched too????

Small motion sensor, the same ultrasonic trigger I use for the alarm system on the boat. When tripped, a small cam takes a few pics of the area. A 1 gig CF card will hold a lot of pics!! And I only have pics if the alarm is tripped!!
