If the sensor was IR, you may be able to slide a "c" cup over it and get by. With it being ultrasonic, yes, you can defeat that one too as long as you move VERRRYYY slowly!! BUT, the ultrasonic will see right thru the "C" cup thingy, so you will have to move VERRRYYYY slowly for a long time!. The sensor even detects movement inside the boat. It shoots right thru the fiberglass and takes a "pic" of what everything looks like. When the "pic" changes a little, the unit "chirps" to let you know it has seen you. If you continue to upset the known pic, it sets off the alarm! How do I know if the alarm has been set off and I need to look at the pics? When I arrive and disarm the boat, if nothing has happened I get two little flashes of light. If the alarm has been triggered, I get 7 strong flashes of light.
As far as the bikini top, I seem to have aquired several that don't belong to the wife. Neither of us know who they belong to! So, we hang them out from time to time to see if anybody wants claim one! ( r u missing a bikini top???) ( would you like to claim a "found" bikini top???) ( we don't claim to have any bikini bottoms!! )

That gives me almost two weeks record time before it starts over-writing the data.
I'm slowly in the process of getting a similar thing set up. We only seem to have troubles when we are away on vacation. How many cameras are generating that storage level?

4 cameras.

All bought off ebay for ~20 bucks each. Have tried several different units. Some are the new chinese versions that take up a very small amount of space. The problem with those is that they just don't have any ability to see in low light. BEWARE of all the ads that claim IR night cams... see in the dark. They work but not very well. If you are close, it is like be iluminated with a flashlight but "they" don't see the light. But, the range is fairly short. They do make large IR illuminators that cover a much larger area ... but, more money.

The best ones are the B&W units a couple of years old that are taken out of bankrupt / shutdown businesses. UNLESS you have a lotta money and can buy the latest and greatest! ( I am cheap.)

The "ready made" units work fairly well, but so do the units you build from an old computer. The 4 channel capture card I built the second system with came off e-bay for ... I am thinking it was only about 30 bucks delivered... but , that is over a year ago.

Good Luck!!
