Location: A Blue State Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() | bad case of PMS ![]() ![]() A Minnesota woman who was fired for sexual harassment will spend the next three years in prison after stalking and abducting a man she had worked with. The victim told the court Wednesday that he thought he was going to be killed that day in the Third Ward. The 23-year-old victim was walking to his car here at a parking garage last November. What he didn't know was his former co-worker, a woman twice his age who was fired for sexually harassing him, was lying in wait. The former co-worker, 48-year-old Lori Foster, handcuffed the victim at gunpoint and forced him into her minivan. He was able to break free and flee to a convenience store where he called 911. Six months after the ordeal, Nicholas Wesselman, told the court at Foster's sentencing that he still does not know what might have happened if he didn't escape. "I have no doubt in my mind that the day of Nov. 2 could very well have been the last of my life," Wesselman said. Wesselman told the judge he still fears for himself and his family and friends. "My experience that night is one I would not wish on anyone. It has haunted my dreams and my everyday life for the last six months. Every day, I must walk by or even park where the events transpired. And my wrists still bear the scars from the handcuffs," Wesselman said. "If you could turn back the clock. Boy, would I love to turn back the clock," Foster said. Foster blamed her behavior on depression that led to suicidal thoughts and claimed she didn't mean to frighten Wesselman saying she only wanted to talk. "I was only thinking about what I needed and what I wanted at the time, and not looking at other people -- the impact it was gonna have on them," Foster said. Foster asked to be released to get back to work and rebuild her life, but the judge said she needed some time in prison. "Like the judge said, there were warning signs early on for her that she should've seen, and now she's facing the consequences of her actions," Wesselman said. Foster was convicted of armed robbery and false imprisonment. When she is released from prison, she will spend nearly five more years on probation. | ||||||||
