Great Bell History & information website!!

If anyone is looking for the nostalgia or history of Bell, I stumbled onto a very informative website.

http://www.bellsystemmemorial.com/

Whoever is doing this site has spent an extensive amount of their own time and money to keep the history and legends alive!! I am somewhat new to this industry; if you call when the divestiture happened, but I still enjoy seeing all the old technology too.

Anyway, just thought in case someone was looking for help with any of the much older stuff, looks like this site can help you or get you to the right place!!

Have fun and enjoy!!

Absolutely great site, I check back once in a while to see what's changed. Started my "Ma Bell" journey with Western Electric.

I am compiling a list of these kind of sites, and was wondering if anyone knows of any others they care to share here.

I have been all through the http://www.bellsystemmemorial.com page and listed most of the sites there. I am sure there are others, but not finding them.

Also was hoping to find a few of the Bell Manuals in pdf form to check some old system stuff I have. Anyone know where I could find any pdf files of the old Bell Manuals?

Thanks,
ThePhoneLady!!

Thanks for the beer!! I know some people out there don't care about technology's history, but some of that history is what got me to where I am, so I want to give back where I can. I also want to build a resource that makes it easier for the "newbies" stepping into this crazy world of technology if I can.

Also being a part of a non-biased technology forum world is a great place for the new generation of techies to come to for help and education, and I hope others share my goal in adding some fun with all of this too!!

Thanks and feel free to throw any ideas, facts or valuable resource connections my way!! They will be put to great use and hopefully soon those contributions will be available in a more organized and productive final product!!

Here's another one for you!
http://ourwebhome.com/TENP/TENproject.html
this one lists the old names for exchanges.
When I was a kid, my phone number was SHerwood 1-1258.
Some of those offices are still called by these names such as St Louis-Forest or Springfield Main.

On the left side of the page you will see:
"Ma Bell published a list of Officially Recommended Exchange Names"
click that and you will see the list.

How's that for retro?
