To catch a thief
First try:
"Thief successful, but living on the edge won't last forever. You managed to scrap away 10 Points From xxxx."

Second try:
"Thief failed miserably, aren't you ashamed of yourself? You have lost 20 Points."

Would seem this might be a random success to be able to steal from someone.

The reputation thing seems to be related to the thief. Some people seem to lose their reputation pretty fast though and others it doesn't seem to have affected.
